Winter at Borough Market
21:03
There's nothing quite like London at Christmas time, fair lights, tinsel, tacky somehow becomes a lot less tacky and Christmas here really is done in style. There's also nothing quite like doing weekend round trips to all the markets during the winter, Borough Market being one of my favourites.
Sat opposite London Bridge Station and surrounded by some of the best pubs in South London, Borough Market is a foodies delight. There's cheese, cakes, sweets, game - all you can think of so don't dare visit on a full stomach.
The market is covered and always rammed full on a Saturday but is the best place when it comes to getting hold of some fresh produce and tasty street food...
Like oysters and sea urchins. Only for the brave but covered in Tabasco, lemon and salt are the food to grab a go go. Especially when the guys giving them out look as happy serving them as everyone else does eating them.
Or if you're not feeling so brave or need warming up from the cold grab yourself a mulled wine (Borough Wines serves up the best) and some paella or Malaysian curry. The picture below doesn't give it enough justice as how good it tastes! But if it's something sweet your after then grab a brownie or a doughnut from Bread Ahead and top it off with drinks from the Wheatsheaf or The Globe.
